UPDATE 11-6-22

Andrea Stairs has been removed from the agenda for eBay's Holiday Seller Check In November 16 and replaced by new North America GM Adam Ireland. Still no official confirmation, but it looks like Andrea may be on her way out.

Chief Growth Officer Julie Loeger announced on LinkedIn this week that Adrian Fung has been promoted to eBay's Global Chief Marketing Officer.

I’m thrilled to announce Adrian Fung as eBay’s new Chief Marketing Officer this week! Adrian’s consumer-centric approach to #marketing impressed me from day one. His focus on capturing the hearts and minds of consumers has achieved impressive results and is driving innovation for eBay. He listens to our customers and people and leads by thinking broadly but focusing deep. Congratulations Adrian - I know you will continue doing amazing things as #cmo!

Adrian joined eBay in July 2021 as VP Customer & Performance Marketing and marks another new hire coming from CEO Jamie Iannone's old stomping grounds, Walmart/Sam's Club.

In addition to Memberships and Marketing roles at Sam's Club, Adrian has also previously held marketing positions at UpWork and Intuit.

Adrian presented part of the segment about the present and future of eBay Marketing at the recent eBay Open event.

It's not entirely clear what this promotion means for Andrea Stairs, whose LinkedIn page still lists her current position as eBay CMO & VP, Seller Community, North America; President, eBay Canada Ltd.

Will she stay on in some capacity still serving as VP Seller Community for North America and/or President of eBay Canada or is she departing the company?

It's also unclear what it means for other regional positions like eBay UK CMO Eve Williams and COO, CMO at eBay Australia Amrita Blickstead.

It's possible they may all remain in their positions and simply now be reporting to Fung as Global CMO or we could be seeing some more executive consolidation, like when Head of Europe Rob Hattrell and SVP International Joo Man Park left the company in July with Jordan Sweetnam taking on the expanded role of SVP Global Markets covering North America, Europe, and International in their stead.

I've reached out to eBay for comment and will update as soon as I have more details. Stay tuned!
