eBay is partnering with longtime seller Linda's Stuff to offer a new eBay Consignment program for luxury handbags.
If you are considering selling a luxury handbag, let eBay consignment do all the heavy lifting for you. Simply fill out a brief intake form, ship your items with a pre-paid, insured shipping label, and let the professionals handle the researching, photographing, pricing, and listing of your items. Once the items sell, simply sit back, relax, and get paid via PayPal or check.
Today, eBay introduces a new consignment service, giving users direct access to expert sellers who will list and sell their luxury items on their behalf. Launching initially for designer handbags, the service will expand next year to include additional luxury categories, including jewelry and watches.
To power the service at launch, eBay has partnered with Linda Lightman, founder of Linda's Stuff, and a leading seller of luxury goods. Linda has operated a consignment store on eBay for more than 20 years, and she brings unrivaled expertise when it comes to selling designer goods.
"Our top priority is to respond to the ever-evolving needs of our customers, and continuously delight luxury shoppers and sellers," said Tirath Kamdar, Global GM of Luxury at eBay. "Launching a consignment service builds on the momentum of offerings like Authenticity Guarantee and Certified By Brand, giving our customers more trusted ways to buy and sell on the marketplace."
Consumers can now use eBay consignment to sell new and pre-owned handbags from top brands like Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Saint Laurent. The process is seamless, with the consignment partner handling each and every component – from photography to pricing – ensuring the listing is competitive and professional. Eligible items listed for $500 or more will display the eBay Authenticity Guarantee checkmark, and once purchased, will go through eBay's authentication process.
How eBay consignment Works
- Users fill out the consignment intake form by answering a few simple questions.
- Upon submission of the form, the customer will be provided with a prepaid, insured shipping label. All shipments are insured throughout the shipping process.
- eBay and the consignment partner then handle item photography, pricing, and listing. Once the item sells, the consignor will receive the proceeds from the sale, which is a percentage of the sale depending on the item's selling price.
Eligibility: eBay consignment is available for select brands, at any price point, in new or pre-owned condition, that fall under select categories.
- Eligible brands include: Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Bvlgari, Celine, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Louboutin, Delvaux, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Givenchy, Goyard, Gucci, Hermès, Jimmy Choo, Judith Leiber, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, MCM, Mulberry, Off-White, Prada, Proenza Schouler, Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo, Stella McCartney, The Row, Tom Ford, Valentino and Versace.
Commissions vary depending on selling price and eBay provides pre-paid, insured shipping labels.
Important Note: handbags that go through eBay Consignment are not automatically eligible for eBay Authenticity Guarantee!
Linda's Stuff will check all consigned items for authenticity using their own knowledge and methods. Only items that meet eBay's criteria for Authenticity Guaranteed after being sold by Linda's Stuff will be sent to eBay's authentication center and receive the full benefits and protections of the Authenticity Guaranteed program.
That seems more than a little clunky, likely to cause delays before buyers receive their items, and not likely to lead to positive buyer experiences.
If Linda's Stuff is already doing their own authentication and they are trusted enough to be the sole seller partner for this consignment program, why should buyers then have to wait even longer for their purchase to have it sent through a second authentication process?
And what happens if Linda's Stuff passes the item as authentic but eBay's authenticators don't?
As always, read the FAQ and Terms and Conditions carefully!
What is eBay consignment?
eBay consignment is a program designed to help you sell your luxury handbags with ease. We take the hard work out of selling your items; all you have to do is let us know the items you want to sell, and ship them with a prepaid label. Start by filling out the intake form linked on this page. Eligible brands and categories will populate under the section where you input the items to be shipped. Then, submit your form, print your shipping label(s), and send in your items. From there, professional team members will photograph, price, and list your items for you. Simply wait for your items to sell, and receive your earnings once the items have been sold.
How does eBay consignment work?
It's easy! Simply fill out the intake form linked on this page. Then, submit your form, print your shipping label(s), and send in your items. Our eBay consignment program is conducted in partnership with one of the largest and most experienced sellers on eBay. Once our partner receives your items, their team of professionals will photograph, research, price, and list your items for you. Then, simply wait for your items to sell, and collect your earnings once the items have been sold.
Do the employees authenticating my consigned items have experience with regard to luxury products?
To ensure that all of the consigned products are 100% authentic, our partner will review and authenticate all of the items that you submit in your consignment. The employees authenticating your products are professionals in the field and have extensive experience authenticating luxury goods. You can trust them to review your consigned items, as they are familiar with the eligible brands and have years of combined training to spot all of the details required to authenticate a luxury product.
How do I ship my items?
After you complete the intake form and let us know the number of boxes you will need, our partner will email you the number of prepaid shipping label(s) you requested. These labels will enable you to ship the items you input in the intake form, broken out in the number of boxes you requested. To ensure your shipment will arrive safely, shipping labels are insured for the value of the consigned items.
How are my items priced?
Our partner's inventory team will thoroughly research your items and obtain a fair market resale value. This is one of the most time-consuming parts of the selling process, which we now handle for you. We take into consideration age, style, designer, comparable sales, and condition. One of the benefits to consigning with us is that our partner is flexible and happy to work with you on any price adjustments. If an item doesn't sell after three months, our partner will proactively make a moderate price reduction to help generate a sale. Rest assured, we are invested in these items and share a common goal to sell each and every item for the most we possibly can.
Should I include any accompanying items with the product?
Accompanying items, including (but not limited to) authenticity cards, paperwork, or dust bags, can increase the resale value of your items. Please include any authenticity cards, paperwork, or dust bag(s) if you have these items available. If you do not have any accompanying items to include, do not worry. Our team of professionals will ensure that you still achieve a competitive selling price for your luxury goods.

eBay has partnered with long-time eBay seller, Linda's Stuff, to ensure a trusted and seamless process for customers throughout the consignment journey. Will the items I consign go through eBay's Authenticity Guaranteed program?
Items consigned will be shipped to our consignment partner, who will check the items for authenticity. Once the items are sold on the eBay platform, they will go through eBay's Authenticity Guarantee service, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. In the event that any authenticity or listing concerns are flagged while the item is being inspected by our authenticators, our consignment partner will reach out to you directly in order to obtain a resolution.
It's interesting that eBay has chosen a single seller to partner with and promote for this specific program.
eBay has long maintained that their "competitive advantage" is they don't compete with their sellers (as opposed to larger rivals like Amazon), but it is increasingly clear that eBay has no qualms about placing their very heavy thumb on the scale in favor of some sellers over others.
Between the focus vertical and high value buyer strategies, curated and limited eligibility for eBay Live livestream selling, and exclusive partnerships and promotions, today's eBay can no longer claim to be "just a venue" as corporate decisions now play a major role in determining winners and losers on the platform.
