US Motors sellers now have access to the new Certified Recycled program, offering qualified automotive recyclers special badging and increased visibility in search if they meet third-party industry certification requirements..

Optimize your business
Learn about a new item condition for parts still installed on salvage vehicles that are inspected after purchase.

Participating sellers must earn Certified Automotive Recycler of Excellence (CARE) status, which includes Automotive Recyclers Association certification, compliance requirements and physical or virtual audits. eBay says Certified Recycled listings will receive a dedicated search filter, prominent badging and higher search ranking, while providing buyers with standardized condition information including grades, damage codes, mileage and part location where applicable.

The certification applies to the recycler and its grading process rather than individual parts, and eBay does not inspect the items itself. The program also introduces a “Used – Part on Vehicle” condition for eligible inventory that is still installed on a donor vehicle when listed, allowing sellers to remove and inspect the part after it sells, then ship it if it meets quality standards or cancel the order if it does not.

Certified Recycled launched in the UK in August and is now coming to the US just weeks after eBay banned standalone airbags and inflators from the marketplace in September following federal scrutiny over dangerous replacement parts. Sellers previously approved to offer airbags were also required to maintain Automotive Recyclers Association certification, among other safeguards.
