eBay is shutting down myFitment as a standalone service September 30, ending support for Amazon, Rithum, SureDone and other outside platforms as the acquired technology becomes available only on-platform through eBay’s Fitment Plus Auto program.

Existing functionality will remain available until the closure, with paid subscriptions reduced to $0 immediately. Fitment already successfully applied to Amazon listings will remain, but myFitment will stop submitting, updating, correcting and monitoring that data after the deadline.

The company will not provide or support a data-export or migration tool as part of the shutdown, leaving affected sellers to build a replacement process with Amazon or their listing provider before access ends.

In an email sent to users July 31, the myFitment team said it is “fully shifting focus” to Fitment Plus Auto, which automatically adds and updates compatibility information for eligible eBay Parts & Accessories listings.

The shutdown closes out just over four years of continued multichannel support following eBay’s acquisition of myFitment in 2022.

From acquisition to Fitment Plus Auto

myFitment was created in 2013 by automotive aftermarket specialists and developed tools for creating, converting and distributing vehicle compatibility data.

Sellers could import product information, add fitment and send it to eBay, Amazon and traditional sales channels. The service also helped Amazon sellers work with the ACES automotive data standard and offered bulk conversion services for larger catalogs.

eBay acquired the myFitment group of companies in August 2022, including myFitment LLC and Illumaware LLC. The company said the deal would help sellers improve listings, reduce returns and give buyers more confidence that parts would fit their vehicles.

At the time, myFitment had been placing growing emphasis on Amazon tools, raising questions about whether eBay would continue supporting a service that also strengthened listings on one of its largest competing marketplaces.

That support continued through a years-long integration process, with eBay taking roughly two years to launch its first seller-facing tool based on the acquisition and more than four years to end the standalone multichannel service.

Fitment Plus launched in 2024, allowing sellers to connect a myFitment account, review suggested compatibility based on brand and manufacturer part numbers, select the appropriate vehicles and publish the data to eBay listings.

eBay finally leverages MyFitment acquisition with Fitment Plus, a new tool enhancing Motors Parts & Accessories listings with compatibility data.

Fitment Plus Auto, introduced in October 2025, moved much of that process directly into eBay. Sellers in eligible fitment-enabled categories are automatically enrolled, with eBay reviewing covered listings against its compatibility database and applying updates on a weekly basis.

The system can add fitment where none exists and supplement information already provided by the seller. Accurate brand and manufacturer part number data remains important because eBay relies on those details to identify the product and match it with compatible vehicles.

eBay says the program can improve search visibility, increase Guaranteed Fit eligibility and reduce the work required to maintain compatibility across large catalogs.

Sellers can opt out through Motors Selling Preferences, which removes fitment added through the automatic program, while a separate toolkit remains available for those who prefer to review and apply suggested data manually.

Fitment remains a difficult problem

eBay has spent years trying to improve automotive catalog and compatibility data.

The company acquired WHI Solutions in 2012, gaining access to the Nexpart ordering and catalog network along with eBay Link, a listing and inventory tool used by automotive businesses selling through eBay Motors.

Despite owning both WHI and myFitment, eBay sellers have continued to report problems with how compatibility data is entered, matched and displayed.

Vehicles shown in a listing’s compatibility chart can still fail eBay’s own fitment search when descriptions in different parts of the system do not line up exactly. Differences in engine displacement, trim details or other catalog fields can cause eBay to tell buyers a part will not fit even when the same vehicle appears in the listing data.

Those errors became more consequential after eBay launched Guaranteed Fit in 2023, since eligibility, search placement and return responsibility all depend heavily on structured compatibility data.

eBay was still exploring new approaches in 2024, when its university machine learning competition challenged students to identify compatible vehicles using listing titles, item specifics, descriptions and images.

Fitment Plus Auto gives eBay another way to improve coverage across large numbers of listings, particularly where sellers never added fitment or allowed older data to become outdated. It also allows eBay to add or revise compatibility without requiring sellers to review every match first.

That makes the accuracy of eBay’s catalog systems increasingly important, especially after the company quietly removed earlier language promising to protect sellers from some Guaranteed Fit cases and related feedback.

Why end outside access?

eBay has not provided a detailed business explanation for cutting off myFitment’s third-party integrations.

The company says the standalone application and supporting services are closing, leaving the team without the systems or support structure needed to continue managing submissions for outside parties.

Maintaining Amazon connections, partner integrations, marketplace-specific troubleshooting and customer support likely added cost and complexity to a service eBay no longer wanted to operate separately.

Fitment affects search visibility, conversion, returns and buyer confidence in one of the company’s priority categories. Continuing to improve compatibility data for Amazon gave competing listings some of the same advantages, while integrations with Rithum, SureDone and other providers made it easier for multichannel sellers to manage eBay listings from outside the platform.

Sellers concentrated on eBay may benefit from having compatibility applied automatically without maintaining a separate myFitment account. Amazon sellers and multichannel businesses face a more difficult transition, with submission, monitoring and correction services ending October 1 and no company-supported migration path offered as part of the shutdown.
