eBay has dropped their July 2025 Seller Update for Australia with improvements for shipment tracking, Offers Dashboard, pre-loved condition changes and more!

Your July Seller News is here

In July, we’re introducing updates that help build buyer trust, improve seller tools, and keep your listings competitive during the busy season. Discover how you can get more from your ad budget with our new monthly pacing model. Plus, improve buyer satisfaction and reduce the chance of returns with three new pre-loved fashion condition grades.

Transforming the tracking experience

What you need to know
Tracking your sales is crucial for seller protection, enhancing buyer confidence, and improving overall business performance. It helps you and your buyers monitor deliveries, reduces enquiries and "item not received" claims, and can contribute to a positive seller rating.

We’ve listened to your feedback and redesigned the tracking experience across Seller Hub and the buyer delivery flow to make it more visual, unified, and easy to navigate. You'll see these changes from the end of July.

What's changing
For sellers:

  • Enhanced visualisation: Seller Hub now offers better tracking status visualisation, such as on the ‘View Order’ page, making it easier to manage deliveries.

For buyers:

  • Unified delivery overview: Buyers will now see all deliveries for an order in one comprehensive view, including separate tracking for outbound and return items.
  • Updated order delivery status: If a delivery is delayed, buyers will see a clearer status update, reducing uncertainty and setting better expectations.

Transform your offer management

What you need to know
We’ve introduced a new Offers dashboard in Seller Hub – your central place to send, manage, and track offers more efficiently. With enhanced visibility, automation tools, and bulk update options, it’s never been easier to stay on top of your offers.

We’re also launching performance tracking tools that use historical data to help you optimise future offers, maximise your sales potential, and identify growth opportunities. With a centralised offer hub and enhanced bulk offer management, you can save time and streamline your workflows.

eBay Introduces New Offer Management Experience; Sellers Warn To Watch Out For Default Settings
eBay introduces new tools to help manage Seller Initiated Offers, but sellers say default Offer settings have also been changed without notice.

This appears to be the same capability eBay announced for other markets in June that Senior Product Manager Evan Swanson gave a demo of at the recent Summer Seller Check In.

What you need to know
We've updated our budget management model for priority campaigns, moving from weekly to monthly budget averaging. This change allows you to optimise your ad spend effectively to enhance your marketing strategy.

How it works
Our new pacing model uses your target daily budget as a guideline to efficiently plan your monthly advertising spend. This refreshed approach helps you get the most out of your monthly budget by increasing spend on days with high potential and reducing it on with lower expected returns. We’ve also introduced safeguards to help maintain steady pacing and avoid using up your budget too early in the month.

Rest assured – your spend will never exceed 30.4 times your target daily budget in a calendar month, or more than twice your daily target in a single day. This smarter approach helps maximise campaign performance by making the most of high-traffic periods while keeping your overall budget in check.

Keep in mind that adjusting your target daily budget during the calendar month may affect this distribution, so adjustments should be made thoughtfully to maintain optimal pacing.

eBay Moves To Monthly Budget Pacing For Promoted Listings Priority Cost Per Click Ad Campaigns
eBay is making changes to Promoted Listings Priority cost per click campaign management, moving to a monthly timeframe for budget averaging.

eBay introduced this same monthly budget pacing in the US last month and while they say it increases flexibility to optimize campaigns, sellers say it also may lead to increased ad spend.

New conditions for everything in pre-loved fashion

What you need to know
Earlier this year, we introduced new item condition options for pre-loved clothing, resulting in an increase in buyer satisfaction. Building on that success, these new options are now expanding across the rest of pre-loved fashion, on everything from jewellery to sneakers.

Starting 22 July, you’ll see these options on both your new and existing listings. They’re designed to give buyers a clearer idea of your item’s condition to help them shop with confidence, as well as helping you reduce disputes and returns for a smoother selling experience.

Once this change takes effect, any existing ‘Pre-owned’ listings will automatically be updated to ‘Pre-owned - Good.’ You’ll need to review and update your listings using the condition that best represents your items. NOTE: If you use a third-party tool to manage your listings on eBay, we recommend working with your service provider to update your existing listings.

eBay Australia Updates Conditions For Pre-Loved Handbags, Jewelry & Shoes; Makes Motors Category Changes
eBay Australia announces updates for pre-loved shoes, handbags, jewelry & accessories, plus category changes in Motors parts & accessories.

eBay already made a stand alone announcement about these pre-loved condition changes, as well as category changes for some Motors Parts and Accessories items last week.

‘Seller Refurbished’ condition to be discontinued in selected categories

What you need to know
To improve buyer trust and clarity, we're expanding the eBay Refurbished Program and phasing out the ‘Seller Refurbished’ item condition in selected categories.

From 5 August 2025, the ‘Seller Refurbished’ item condition will no longer be available to use for items listed in selected categories. See the full list of affected categories.

Once this change comes into effect, all existing listings in the affected categories with the ‘Seller Refurbished’ item condition will automatically be updated to ‘Used’ and any listings with errors will be ended.

NOTE: If you use a third-party tool to manage your listings on eBay, we recommend working with your service provider to update your existing listings, or create new ones before 5 August 2025.

eBay has provided a spreadsheet with a long list of affected categories mostly in Business and Industrial, Electronics, Home Goods, and Sporting Goods.
