eBay Australia Updates Conditions For Pre-Loved Handbags, Jewelry & Shoes; Makes Motors Category Changes
eBay Australia announces updates for pre-loved shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories as well as category changes in Motors parts and accessories.
First, eBay is expanding on pre-loved condition updates applied to clothing earlier this year, and will require sellers in Australia to select "Pre-owned - Fair", "Pre-owned - Good", or "Pre-owned - Excellent" for a variety of fashion items and accessories starting July 22, 2025.
Updates to your pre-loved fashion, shoes & accessory listings
Earlier this year we launched new “pre-owned” conditions for clothing categories providing sellers with three “Pre-owned” conditions to better describe their item.
To enhance transparency in our rapidly growing Pre-loved Fashion category, and to help reduce returns for “Item not as described”, we are now expanding these “pre-owned” conditions to handbag and some fashion accessory categories.
What you need to know
From 22 July 2025, we'll replace the current ""Pre-owned"" condition with:
- Pre-owned - Fair
- Pre-owned - Good
- Pre-owned - Excellent...
...What you need to do
You don't need to do anything yet, but starting on 22 July, you'll need to use these new conditions and descriptors when updating or listing pre-loved handbags, shoes and fashion accessories.
When the new conditions become available, all existing listings under the 'Pre-owned' condition will be automatically converted to 'Pre-owned - Good' and you'll need to review and update your listings using the new conditions to ensure that you represent your items accurately.
If you'd like to prepare for the change, you can review your listings to see which of the new conditions best fits them.
We hope this change will improve search visibility, provide better transparency to buyers and reduce the likelihood of 'not as described' returns.
These new pre-loved condition requirements for Australia will apply to the following categories:

- Kids Accessories
- Boys Accessories
- Girls Accessories
- Baby Accessories
- Watches
- Engagement & Wedding
- Fine Jewellery
- Men's Jewellery

- Ethnic, Regional & Tribal Jewellery
- Handcrafted & Artisan Jewellery
- Other Jewellery
- Fashion Jewellery
- Men's Shoes
- Women's Shoes
- Boys Shoes
- Girls Shoes
- Unisex Kids Shoes
- Baby Shoes
While this update currently only applies to Australia, it's not uncommon for eBay to roll changes like this out in smaller markets first before eventually expanding globally, so it's likely that UK, Europe, Canada and the US will see it "coming soon" as well.
Hopefully the transition for these categories goes better than the initial launch for clothing categories which ended up being postponed after suffering an embarrassing failure to launch.

Some Motors Parts and Accessories sellers in Australia may also notice their listings have moved to different categories, if they sell Fuel System Service Tools or Fuel Pressure Testers.
