Luxe Collective Announces Closure, Leaving Future Of eBay UK Consignment For Handbags Up In The Air
Luxury resale platform Luxe Collective has announced they'll be closing down after being unable to recover from high value theft last year, leaving future of eBay Consignment in the UK up in the air.
Co-founder Ben Gallagher took to LinkedIn to share the news, saying a break in the company experienced last year set them on a downward spiral they were unable to pull out of.
Gallagher did not give details about exactly how and when Luxe Collective will begin winding down their operations - or what will become of any items currently in their possession as part of the eBay UK Consignment program.
eBay Consignment originally launched in the US last year, partnering with longtime seller Linda Lightman of Linda's Stuff to provide consignment services for luxury handbags in February 2023 and expanding to include fashion in March 2024.
The service then rolled out to the UK in September 2024, with Luxe Collective named as the sole provider of luxury handbag consignment services in the program.

As of May 11, 2025, both the Luxe Collective website and eBay store are still active with items showing available for sale, though their feedback shows that the company may have been experiencing difficulties in fulfilling some orders recently.
eBay also still shows Luxe Collective as the sole provider for Consignment services in the UK as of today.
Any users who have sent handbags into Luxe Collective through the program should review all the terms and conditions and reach out to support for additional information on how these items will be handled now that the company is shutting down.
The terms and conditions specifically states that if consigned items do not sell or are requested to be returned, the owner may be on the hook for return postage costs - but one would hope either Luxe Collective or eBay would waive that given the situation.
eBay has not responded to request for comment about the closure or future plans for Consignment in the UK as of time of publishing.
