eBay appears to be expanding the number of images sellers can add to listings from 24 to 40, but sellers say the change hasn't taken full effect yet.

Over the last couple of days, the eBay listing form has changed to say sellers can add up to 40 photos and a single 1-minute video, but the actual available image slots appear to still be limited to 24 pictures plus 1 video for a total of 25.

Sellers who have tested it out say if they try to upload more than 24 images, they get an error message and eBay's official help page still lists the limit as 24.

number of photos allowed on listing

I noticed tonight (4/13/26) that the photo listing section is saying "you can add up to 40 photos to your listing". Is this a mistake??? I tried and it still only lets you add 24?? Are they planning on letting us add 40?

Is the photo limit expanding from 24 to 40?

When creating or revising a listing, I see a message that "You can add up to 40 photos and a 1-minute video". However, after uploading 24 photos to the listing, I also see "You've reached your 24-photo limit."

Is eBay supporting more than 24 photos per listing in some situations? I sell groups of vintage items that require multiple photos each and sometimes might need to exceed 24 photos to document the basic characteristics along with any defects.

Ebay now allows up to 40 photos per listing

I just came back to a listing i started last night and saw that the photo limit was 40.

Edit: I just checked my draft again and saw that it still shows 24 photo limit reached and won't allow me to add more. Hopefully the limit has been increased and the roll-out is somehow broken.

Previously, eBay limited listings to only 12 photos but lifted that to 24 in 2022.

And this isn't the only change possibly coming soon to photos - eBay also appears to be testing inserting images showing fashion items on AI generated models into listings without the seller's knowledge or explicit consent.

eBay is testing AI fashion models, inserting altered images into seller listings without warning and raising concerns over consent.

Stay tuned for updates and let us know in the comments below if you think eBay should increase the number of photos allowed in listings and if so, is 40 enough?
