eBay Loses Longtime Seller & Consignment Partner Linda's Stuff To Poshmark
eBay is losing longtime seller and consignment partner Linda's Stuff as Poshmark acquires its dedicated operational facilities to revamp its consignment offering, while the business moves its selling and live shopping operations to a new home on the competing marketplace.
Poshmark announced the news in a company blog post last week, saying it is sunsetting its current consignment program in favor of a "consignment as a service" model which will leverage Linda's Stuff's operational infrastructure.
Today, we are sunsetting our current consignment program as we transition to a far more robust, purpose-built ‘consignment as a service’ model. Capturing the full potential of high-value fashion requires specialized physical infrastructure—including expert authentication, white-glove intake, high-security handling, and dedicated fulfillment service levels that go beyond a digital-only framework.
To power this next phase of our journey, Poshmark has acquired the dedicated operational facilities of Linda’s Stuff.
As their legacy inventory and consignments are systematically wound down, these specialized facilities will be fully repurposed to service Poshmark sellers. By unlocking high-end closets that would otherwise remain idle, this expanded infrastructure will attract qualified luxury buyers to the platform—driving increased traffic and sales to listings across the entire community.
Poshmark says the new consignment program will be phased in as facility capacity allows, with no further details yet about when it will launch, what items will be eligible, what fees will apply or exactly how the service will work.
It's a significant change in direction from the Consignment Network Poshmark first announced at PoshFest 2024.
That program was built around "leveraging the strength of our community," recruiting experienced Poshmark sellers as Closet Partners to receive inventory from other users and handle researching, photographing, pricing, listing, storing and shipping the items themselves.
At the time, I noted it was an interesting contrast to eBay's approach, which provided promotion and sales benefits to just one hand-picked consignment partner.
Now Poshmark is sunsetting that community-powered model and moving to centralized physical infrastructure acquired from the very same company that powered eBay Consignment.
Linda Lightman and Linda's Stuff have deep roots on eBay, selling on the marketplace for over 25 years and growing into one of the platform's largest fashion sellers.
The Linda's Stuff eBay store is still active for now as legacy inventory and consignments are wound down, with over 100,000 items still listed at time of publication.
Linda's Stuff became even more closely tied to eBay in 2023 when it was tapped to be the exclusive partner for eBay's new US luxury handbag consignment offering.
Rather than simply connecting consumers with a network of sellers, eBay routed the entire process through Linda's Stuff, which handled receiving, authenticating, photographing, pricing and listing items on behalf of consignors.
eBay also repeatedly funded steep discounts on Linda's Stuff inventory throughout the partnership, including a 25% promotion in 2023 - another example of the kind of seller-specific subsidies drawing renewed scrutiny amid broader concerns about eBay's SG&A spending.
The partnership was then expanded into luxury fashion in 2024, further cementing Linda's Stuff as an important part of eBay's strategy for attracting high-value fashion buyers and sellers.

But eBay Consignment appears to have now quietly come to an end in the US.
The Linda's Stuff store remains active while existing inventory is wound down, but the eBay Consignment landing page has been deleted with no notice or announcement from eBay about the closure of the program or whether another partner will take over.
It's not the first time eBay has suddenly found itself without a Consignment partner.
eBay expanded Consignment to the UK in 2024 with Luxe Collective as the sole provider for luxury handbag consignment services, but Luxe Collective announced it was shutting down less than a year later after being unable to recover from a high-value theft.

The Luxe Collective eBay store has since been shut down and eBay's UK Consignment page has also been deleted, confirming the end of that program as well.
That now leaves eBay Consignment without a partner in either the US or UK.
Linda's Stuff has also been a featured seller on eBay Live, regularly hosting luxury fashion livestreams as recently as July while eBay continues trying to grow live shopping into a more significant part of its business.
But Linda's Stuff has now announced those Lives are moving to Poshmark too.
In an Instagram post, Linda's Stuff told followers:

That makes the move a double whammy for eBay, losing both its US Consignment partner and a regular eBay Live seller to a competing marketplace.
The move comes as Poshmark has been increasingly courting brands, retailers and larger enterprise sellers, prompting questions about where that leaves the platform's traditional sellers.

Those concerns intensified after Poshmark began running employee-hosted Posh Shows for major brand partners, putting Poshmark in the position of operating the platform while also helping selected inventory compete for buyers on it.
Now Poshmark is taking another step toward directly managing supply by acquiring physical infrastructure for authentication, intake, handling and fulfillment.
Poshmark insists the new service will benefit the broader marketplace, saying high-end consignment will attract qualified luxury buyers and drive "increased traffic and sales to listings across the entire community."
One seller reacting to the announcement on Reddit summed up the concern:
So another way they are competing with their customers aka us sellers. Fantastic.
Other commenters questioned how the new model will work and raised similar concerns about Poshmark competing directly with its own sellers.
Poshmark says the new service will bring more luxury buyers and sales to the entire community, but whether sellers actually see those benefits may depend on how Poshmark chooses to surface and promote that consignment inventory.
