eBay UK Search Glitch Hides Sellers' Listings
UK eBay sellers are in a panic as search glitch hides listing information, removes ability to click through to listing page.
The problem appears to have started sometime yesterday and reports in the eBay UK community forum indicate it also appears to be impacting mostly business sellers.
All my listings are hidden in search
Since 8th March all of my listings are hidden in search results and shopfront.
I can still see my active listings in seller hub, but anyone looking at my shop will see a blank page like the attached screenshot. Sales are down >95% as a result.
This issue seems to be affecting a growing number of seller accounts.
We are experiencing the same thing here ! We have over 2300 listings and all of them are not visible within our eBay shop or via search. We have searched via other eBay accounts and all of the listings are no longer visible? Our account is in good stead and listings are displaying within our hub / active listings , BUT , they're not visible anywhere else ???
We sell Β£250 - Β£400 per day and since last night had Β£0 in sales !! We've spoken with eBay and it has been escalated as urget with I.T. department. We have been told that they are aware of issues and have played down the severity of the situation.
Apparently the rep i spoke with had only spoken to 1 other user today having the same experience?? This is somewhat concerning and we are starting to panic !!
For affected listings, there is still an entry in the search results page, but it doesn't actually show the item or a link to click through to the listing, it just shows blank space with shipping speed information.

This glitch is impacting how items are shown directly on store pages as well.

While eBay has not yet provided an explanation for what is happening, it's possible the addition of an icon with 3 dots which allows users to report items directly from search and store pages may be part of the problem.

The results are fluctuating when refreshing the page, indicating eBay is likely working to fix the issue.
On some refreshes they appear to have reverted the change which added this help and report button - and the results without the button also do not appear to be experiencing the glitch.

Then when refreshing again, the version with the report button comes back - and so does the glitch.
eBay support is aware of the issue and telling individual sellers they are working to fix it with 24 hours.
eBay are aware of the missing listings glitch on site and working on a fix. Problem being this isn't even isolated to stores. It's in the search engine as well.

Can we please remove the amateur coders from California?

However, eBay has not yet made any public announcements or responded to any of the many posts about this issue which are flooding the UK community.
This is just the latest in near daily technical problems that continue to plague the platform 6 years after activist investor Elliott Management mounted a campaign pushing for change at the company with their "Enhancing eBay" plan specifically calling out failures of leadership and operational and technical misexecution.

Ex-CEO Devin Wenig infamously said at eBay Open 2018 that technical glitches are unacceptable and really pissed him off. Interestingly, eBay has since blocked that YouTube video from being embedded or shared on other sites, but you can still watch it here.
There've been a lot of site glitches recently on eBay. What are you guys doing to get rid of them?
Here's the simple answer - unacceptable, unacceptable. And we're making a lot of changes. When you make changes there are times that things happen but that's not an excuse and it's not ok with me and this summer in particular there have been a number of issues that directly impacted sellers like people not being able to see their view counts and a few other things and it's just not ok.
I'm extremely proud of a lot of things we've done, I'm not proud of that and in fact I hold my team accountable and it's not important, it's an internal matter but, we made changes to people and teams because shipping product that isn't ready is not ok. It's not ok with me and it's not ok with my team.
So the short answer is it's not like we don't get it. We are making a lot of changes and I want to make those changes, we need to make those changes, but making changes and then having to back up and fix things is not cool and I totally get it. Most of the issues from this summer have now been remedied but I was pissed off.
Mazen Rawashdeh was Chief Infrastructure and Architecture Officer at the time, but somehow managed to escape the wrath of a "pissed off" Wenig.
He was then promoted to Chief Technology Officer in 2019, after a brief period where he co-led Core Product & Tech along with Mohan Patt when Steve Fisher was being shuffled from CTO to SVP Payments "in order to focus on a personal matter."
Patt and Fisher both left the company, but Rawashdeh remains as CTO while the site continues to struggle with basic functionality.
How much longer will CEO Jamie Iannone, Rawashdeh and Chief Product Officer Eddie Garcia be allowed to blunder down the same path before eBay's Board of Directors finds themselves facing another call for change from investors?
