eBay sellers are reporting some of their markdown sale discount promotions are not working properly for new listings, leading to buyer complaints.

Store promotions glitch not working properly

I primarily sell trading card singles. With my store subscription, I created a promotion that gives customers free shipping on orders with a subtotal of $5 or more, in my own selected store categories. AKA all of my single trading cards. I have about 2000 listings all made with the same template and I have had 0 issues for years. Today I had a customer reach out to me asking how the promotion works because it was not applying this rule during checkout.

Turns out, every listing I made from 8/1 to 8/3 is not honoring the store shipping promotion. If you check a listing that was created before 8/1, it will show a banner. On that banner it describes the promotion "free shipping on orders $5 or more." If you click that banner, it will show all items that are in that promotion INCLUDING the ones created 8/1 - 8/3. So that page will detect it, but the actual items page will not, and when a customer tries to checkout it does not apply the promotion if qualified or even let them combine shipping at all.

I have talked to a customer service person that flagged this as an "unknown" issue and said to have it resolved in 24 hours. I figured id make a post on the chance anyone else had this issue and was looking for any info.

Order Discount - Buy 5 Get - Stopped Working on new listings

Spoke to some Tech Support on the phone, but figured I'd mention it here in case anyone is looking for help.

Noticed yesterday one of our promotions stopped applying, namely to new listings. We have a buy 5 get 1 free promotion with games, and any new listings that fall into the filter don't seem to get added to this promotion.

Some buyers have complained about it, but not much I can do on my end as the promotion end date is well into the future (3 years from now) and the filters are still correct.

eBay support said it is a glitch right now they are working on (hope that wasn't a canned answer)

I have the same issue. Every new listing made in the month of August 2023 has not applied my promotions. I made my own post about it and talked with a few CS reps. I got through to an eBay live representative and they told me my issue was "bumped" to the top and it was an "unknown" glitch at the time. I stressed the fact that these promotions make up a majority of my sales and they refunded my store subscription cost for the month.

The glitch appears to be specifically in the cart functionality - eBay is correctly showing these sellers have a promotion running and showing the items that are included in the active promotion, but it does not appear to recognize when a buyer has added the necessary amount of items to qualify for the discount

For example all of these items are shown as being included in this promotion for Buy 2 Get 1 5% off, but eBay says 2 more items still need to be added to qualify.

So far eBay has not added this issue to the ongoing technical issues list or provided a ticket to reference when contacting support.
