eBay sellers are getting only 1 day notice of yet another rate change for USPS Ground Advantage labels purchased through the platform.

In an announcement posted in the eBay community forum today, the company acknowledged the turmoil and confusion caused by the many recent postage updates while advising some rates will increase by $0.10 starting July 25.

USPS® Ground Advantage rate update effective July 25, 2026 | eBay Community Announcements
Applies to Ground Advantage shipments weighing 3–5 lbs.

We recognize that USPS has made more frequent rate changes this year, and we understand how important it is for sellers to stay ahead of these updates. We're working closely with USPS to help sellers navigate these changes and provide timely updates as they happen.

Today, we have another update to share.

Effective Saturday, July 25, 2026, USPS is increasing Ground Advantage rates. As a result, eBay Labels rates for Ground Advantage shipments weighing 3–5 lbs. will increase by $0.10 across shipping zones 1 - 8.

This is the only USPS rate update at this time. Updated rates will automatically be reflected in the eBay shipping calculator when they take effect.

The move comes as sellers are still trying to figure out the previous changes to shipments in the 3-5 lb weight range that had some trying to find ways to increase the weight of their packages to get the significantly discounted prices being offered through eBay, Etsy, and other providers.

USPS APV adjustments are hitting sellers who overstated package weights to chase cheaper Ground Advantage rates.

And confusion also continues over "rural" zip-code exclusions for oz-based tier pricing under new Ground Advantage rates that went into effect July 12th.

eBay sellers are struggling to make sense of new USPS rates as new rules for ounce-based Ground Advantage pricing vary by zip code.

It remains to be seen if this new $0.10 increase for 3-5 lbs will also affect Etsy, PirateShip and others, but given how the initial discounted rates applied to multiple providers, it won't be surprising if this increase eventually does too.

As always, shippers who sell on marketplaces like Etsy and eBay, will be a particularly impacted by any rate increase as selling and advertising fees are charged on total transaction amounts including tax and shipping, resulting in a de facto fee increase that will eat even further into margins.

And while $0.10 may not seem like a lot, it's also important to note that not only does eBay collect more in Final Value Fees and Promoted Listings ad fees when shipping rates go up, they also get an unearned bump in Gross Merchandise Volume for their quarterly earnings reports that artificially inflates these important financial figures.

Stay tuned for updates and let us know in the comments below if you're seeing this increase across other platforms as well!
