eBay Sellers Face July Deadline For Fashion Size And Coin Grading Compliance
eBay is updating size requirements for fashion and coin grading guidelines in effort to standardize buying experiences.
Here's what sellers need to know about what's changing:
Fashion
First, fashion sellers will need to bring their item specifics for apparel and footwear into alignment with new sizing requirements - for example Small, Medium, Women’s Small, Size Large, or Ladies M will need to change to standard values like S, M, L, or XL.
Note: the change only applies to item specifics, seller can continue to describe sizing in whatever terms they choose for titles and descriptions.
According to a post on the eBay Developer blog, eBay will begin to attempt to automatically change listings to match the standardized requirements in June 2026 but starting in July, all new and existing listings with non-standard, missing size values, and/or condition values will be blocked from the site or placed on hold.
eBay says non-standard size values can reduce search recall, recommendation eligibility, and buyer confidence - also, non-compliant values are not indexed by search, so buyers may not find sizes they're searching for if sellers don't use values that eBay recognizes.
To stay safe, sellers should choose values from the options eBay offers where possible instead of entering their own details for size-related item specifics.
Coins
eBay is now also requiring coin sellers to comply with new condition grading guidelines, taking into account wear, surface preservation, luster, strike detail, and any visible damage or alterations.
Listings should be categorized into one of the following condition groups based on the Sheldon scale:
- Uncirculated
- Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated
- Fine to Very Fine
- Below Fine
And eBay has provided a chart to help sellers assess where their raw, ungraded coins fit into these groups.

For graded coins, sellers will need to provide:
- Grading company (required)
- Grade (letter + numeric) (required)
- Certification number (optional)
The changes started applying to the following categories on May 6, 2026:
- 253 - Coins: US
- 256 - Coins: World
- 3377 - Coins: Canada
- 4733 - Coins: Ancient
- 18466 - Coins: Medieval
eBay is planning a phased rollout where new listings will be required to use the new values by early June and starting in early July, existing listings must switch over or they may be blocked, hidden, or fail to publish.
The move follows changes eBay made to shorten the money back guarantee timeframe to 3 days for Coins & Bullion in effort to curb returns due to precious metal price volatility.
