eBay Tests Moving Category Breadcrumbs To Item Specifics In Compromise To Please Sellers
UPDATE 7-3-25
eBay appears to have ended this test with users reporting category breadcrumbs are no longer showing in item specifics and are back to only being displayed at the bottom of the listing.
If you liked the change, you can still feedback to eBay be clicking the question mark at the bottom right of the screen when looking at an item page.

eBay appears to be testing moving category navigation breadcrumbs to Item Specifics to address seller complaints after recent changes to View Item page.
Previously, buyers and sellers alike could quickly and easily tell what subcategory an item was listed in and even navigate to higher category levels using the breadcrumbs shown at the top of the listing.

But back in April, eBay moved those breadcrumbs to make more room "above the fold" for eBay Promoted Stores ads, forcing users who still wished to view the category information to go to the bottom of the page, past 300+ Sponsored Promoted Listings ads which automatically add even more rows of ads as you continue to scroll down.

Sellers expressed frustration with the change in the eBay community forum, saying they often use the category information as part of product research for items they have to list and voicing concerns that having to scroll past all those ads could lead to accidental clicks that could cost them more money under soon to be effective updates to Promoted Listings attribution policies.

Now it appears eBay may be trying to come up with a compromise to address those seller concerns while still reserving the top of page space for more lucrative uses by testing putting the category breadcrumbs in Item Specifics.

Category Breadcrumbs - moved into item specifics
We've all been lamenting the loss of category breadcrumbs from the top of the item page, and talking about how difficult it is to get to the bottom of the page with near-endless loading of sponsored ads.
Spotted this change today:
Other sellers responded that they were not yet seeing this change when they viewed the same item, so it is likely a limited test or phased rollout at this point, but that it would definitely be better than having the categories only at the bottom of the page.
