UPDATE:

eBay has acknowledged this issue and added it to the list of ongoing technical issues posted in the community forum, advising sellers to reference ALERT15875 when contacting support.

Sellers are unable to list/revise the items using mobile app due to error message

Reference ID: ALERT15875

And a seller in the community has shared a workaround they discovered - it appears that accessing the Manage Business Policies page on desktop and deleting any policies which do not have any listings assigned to them clears the error when returning to the app.

Go into your business policies and DELETE any unused business policies. I used a laptop to do that and I did have like 4 that were not used. Once i did that, the app listing worked without the error

An eBay app update is causing confusion and frustration as sellers receive message saying "complete your listing on a web browser to apply your business policies."

Sellers are discussing the issue in the eBay community forum where it appears to mostly be impacting those using the Android app.

Complete your listing on a web browser??

Why won't the app permit me to list... Keep getting a screen telling me to complete my listing on a web browser

Unable to complete drafts in app

Drafts won't open in app, message pips up to go to web browser to open EBAY website to complete listing in order to apply business policies. Please fix, it us so much faster and easier to work from the app on my cell & tablet.

I just noticed the same thing and it is annoying but I did manage to finish my listing by going to eBay in a web browser on my phone. Normally, I start the listing on my laptop and then use the eBay app to take pics and then I list the item or do more editing on the laptop.

Since reports just started to pop up yesterday, this issue is likely related to changes for UK private sellers requiring mandatory use of Simple Delivery shipping service which also started yesterday.

eBay UK Simple Delivery Mandate Goes Live In April 2025 - What Private Sellers Need To Know
It’s official - private eBay UK sellers will be required to use Simple Delivery managed shipping on eligible items starting April 15, 2025.

As part of those updates, eBay warned UK private sellers that starting on April 7, they would no longer be able to access business policies through the app and will need to use the web experience instead.

However, most of the reports I've seen so far are from US based sellers - so it would appear that either eBay has incorrectly pushed the update to users outside of the UK or this is a phased roll out of an intended change that will eventually move support for business policies to web only for all users.

For now, affected users can report the problem to eBay by clicking the question mark icon in the lower right of the page in the desktop experience or shaking their phone while using the eBay app.

I've reached out to eBay for more information - stay tuned for updates and let us know in the comments below if you're experiencing this eBay app business policy problem!
