eBay sellers are once again reporting that eBay Standard Envelope Shipping is not available when creating listings for items that should qualify for the service.

eBay Standard Envelope Postcards/Trading Cards
When using app, eBay Standard Envelope doesn’t show up on the list. Click on Ship in the US button to restart it and eBay Standard Envelop is on the list. Select it. Then the package weight auto-changes to 3oz 12x7x1 instead of 2 oz 8x2x6. And Shipping Service is now saying Select a Service and again you can only check First Class. This has been happening since 2/16. I have deleted and reloaded app - didn't change a thing. I have turned off my ipad and turned it back on. Doesn't do anything.

eBay standard envelope shipping option not available
For the past few hours, the eBay standard envelope option for shipping trading cards under $20 has not been available. This is troublesome, as I was planning on listing several cards today & am not looking to pay $4-$5 first class shipping on lower value singles

The issue appears to be related to a similar issue we've reported that is occuring with USPS flat rate boxes and envelopes.

eBay Flat Rate Padded Envelope Shipping Not Available
eBay listing form prevents sellers from selecting USPS Flat Rate Padded Envelope without entering dimensions.

It appears eBay has made design changes to the listing form to make the shipping options dynamic, meaning rather than showing a static list of all possible shipping options, it is instead looking at data like weight and dimensions to determine which shipping options the item would be eligible for and only showing those options.

In creating a few test listings for trading cards which should be eligible for eBay Standard Envelope, I found that eBay is defaulting to inserting a weight of 3 oz and dimensions of 12 x 7 x 1.

Those default dimensions are larger than the 11.5 x 6.125 x 0.25 maximum allowed for the service, so eBay's new dynamic listing form is not showing Standard Envelope as an available option.

eBay standard envelope
eBay standard envelope is the low cost way to ship small, lightweight items up to 3 oz. to your buyers with integrated tracking and shipping protection. It’s more secure than shipping with a stamp, and can help improve your Seller Ratings.
  • No smaller than 3.5” x 5”
  • No larger than 6.125” x 11.5”
  • Envelope thickness is uniform, less than 0.25” inches at all points, and not too rigid
  • Weighs up to 3 oz.

If you're running into problems with eBay Standard envelope no showing up for an item that should qualify, check to make sure the weight and dimensions are within the maximum allowed ranges.

Some sellers say eBay support has indicated they are working to correct the issue, but in the meantime, here's a list of dimensions for flat rate boxes and envelopes as well as eBay Standard Envelope, that currently appear to be working to have those services displayed when creating a listing.

USPS Flat Rate Envelopes: 12x9x1
USPS Small Flat Rate Box: 8x5x1
USPS Med Flat Rate Box: 11x8x6 or 14x12x3
USPS Large Flat Rate Box: 12x12x6
eBay Standard Envelope: 11x6x0.25
