eBay sellers are reporting problems with shipping calculations as rate estimates are significantly higher or lower than they should and weights and dimension glitches in the listing form.

Multiple threads in the eBay US community forums over the last week indicate the problem is ongoing and causing many sellers to hold off on completing listings due to fears that buyers will not be charged correct shipping rates.

Is eBay shipping calculating incorrectly? Do I wait it out?

It would be a great day if the shipping label for a 14 pound cast-iron pan was only $6 to $14, however, I know this is not the case. I’ve tried to change the shipper and I’m still getting faulty information. Is anyone else having this issue?

I am having the same issues with EBay’s calculated shipping estimates being all messed up. I have listings stuck in draft mode because I can’t list them with the crazy estimates they are giving.

One listing has shipping costs for 1 oz 10x13x2 estimated at $6.01-$9.88. Another listing I have for 5 lbs 20x14x12 estimates shipping as $5.16-$6.24. There is no way any of this is correct. I jumped on the forums to see if anyone else was having problems too.

Some community members suggested that the low amount was due to the fact that when seeing estimated during listing creation, it shows rates to the seller's own zip code, but sellers affected by the issue say that even if that is the case, they were not seeing estimates this low for similar weights/dimensions a week ago.

Others say they are seeing the low estimates when listing, but it appears that correct rates are being shown to buyers, though that may not be enough to assuage fears of those who are holding off on listing.

It seems like even though it is calculating incorrectly for us as sellers, it looks correct to a buyer. If you have a friend across the country or a family member, maybe have them go on and look at the listing that was weird to you and see if it is appearing with correct shipping. I hope they fix it soon, I’m still seeing oddness today, but I’m trusting that it will be OK

Other community posts said the weight and dimension fields on the listing form were glitching, potentially causing incorrect information to be entered.

Shipping weight fields malfunction in Chrome?

I was just shipping a package - I had listed it as 1 pound 4 ounces - and had to add 2 ounces to the ounce field. I clicked in the ounce field and changed the 4 to a 6...mysteriously - the 1 in the pound field changed to a 4....

...Just happened AGAIN. Was changing a dimension - and suddenly the weight went from 2 pounds to 9 pounds. Never touched the weight field

Technical Issue: Calculated Shipping weights resetting or incorrect during listing

I am experiencing a recurring technical glitch with the listing tool. Since yesterday, when I enter the package weight and dimensions for "Calculated Shipping," the system either resets the values or calculates an incorrect shipping rate that doesn't match the input.

I’ve tried cleared my cache and switched between the mobile app and desktop, but the issue persists. As a Top Rated Plus seller, this is affecting my workflow and potential sales.

And sellers in Canada are also experiencing eBay shipping problems with UPS maximum dimension errors and missing discounts for Canada Post Expedited.

Canada Post not giving me discounted eBay rates for buyers

Recently my shipping costs for Canadian buyers (shipping from Canada within Canada) has gone up considerably, normally it shows prices around $6-$12 for most clothing items but now it's showing $18-$20.

I measure everything properly, weights are correct, I have "eBay discounted rates" turned on for buyers so they get the cheapest possible rate, it's been fine like this for a long time but just recently the prices are crazy high now.

I am also unable to use UPS due to an error saying the weight/package dimensions are too big when they aren't, nothing has changed on my end in the way I am doing things and everything worked perfectly fine before.

Some Canadian sellers suggested the sudden increase in shipping could be related to recently added fuel surcharges, but others said the increase they were seeing was more than what the fuel surcharge alone would be.

Canada post shipping rates have jumped up overnight

I’ve noticed on my listings, same size packages I sold 3-4 days ago at 12.25 are now being charged 18.00+. Did shipping rates change overnight?

The fuel surcharges jumped a fair bit today (domestic was 25% last week) but not enough to explain the entire difference you are seeing:

One seller pointed out the issue appears to be specific to Canada Post Expedited no longer showing a discount, and importantly that will inflate the fees that sellers are paying on these sales because eBay calculates fees based on the total including shipping.

The Expedited Parcel ebay discount has been removed and is not showing to buyers, or when 'buying' a label on ebay labels, or on shipping rate calculator.

Buy labels for Expedited Parcel on another platform if they don't resolve this soon, in case the discount is not applied when the label is actually charged.

Meanwhile ebay will collect extra final value fees on the difference they've over charged the buyer without the discount (eye roll).

It's not clear if the missing Expedited discount is a glitch or an intentional, but unannounced, change in eBay Canada shipping rates.

Sellers in both the US and Canada forums have been tagging eBay employees in multiple posts over several days to try to get answers about these shipping issues, but there have been no official responses.

And unfortunately, since eBay has shut down two of their most popular social support channels, sellers are struggling to get answers from regular support as well.
