Sellers Spot Data Snafu In eBay’s New Mobile App Promoted Listings Ad Tool
Promoted Listings General ads can now be managed in the eBay app with a new Promoted On The Go experience introduced at this week's eBay Open 2025 seller conference - but users say the data doesn't match what they see on desktop, raising questions about which source to trust for the truth.
Senior Manager SMB Strategic Accounts Dallen Mckee announced the new feature, saying the new advertising hub in the app will allow sellers to boost listings from anywhere, view performance and adjust their strategy on the go.

A Value Added Resource reader reached out with screenshots highlighting a few issues:
First, on both desktop and in the app their reports are showing 0 promoted impressions for August 10 and 11 which can't possibly by accurate.

And second (and possibly related) the new app experience shows strange and incorrect displays of data.
When viewing the new Advertising section in the Android version of the app, the first thing that stands out is that no matter what time period you have it set on, eBay appears to have doubled the points on the graph - in this example set at 7 days, there are 14 points.
Each day is doubled and for the 10th, both points show 0 impressions.

Then moving to the 11th, which is also doubled, but one point shows 6048 impressions while the other shows 0 - and keep in mind this is the same account as the desktop screenshot above which showed 0 for both days.

And on the 12th, it shows one point at 38,427 and the other at 0.

While the same account in desktop shows 18,940 Promoted Listings impressions and 4,608 Organic impressions for that date.

Even more confusing, if you try to select a custom date range in the app, the actual displayed date is 1 day off from the range you set.
For example, selecting a range of August 10-11 on the calendar results in August 9-10 being displayed.

And setting it to August 11-12 then displays August 10-11, with both days showing 0 impressions.

Sellers who haven't yet looked at the new Advertising section in the app also report experiencing the same problem on desktop of the 10th and 11th showing 0 promoted impressions.
I just noticed that on Aug 10 & 11 there were NO PROMOTED listings traffic at all
I was wondering why things got so slow the last couple days and I just noticed that on Aug 10 & 11 there were NO PROMOTED listings traffic at all. Anyone else see this?
Wish there was a way eBay could work on the site and not mess up sellers every time they do. EBay changes something and I can't get sales for days. I am afraid to turn off promotions altogether because the last time I did that I got no sales period.
I noticed that today too. However, before today, I had promoted listings showing both days. So I am guessing its a display glitch, or maybe promo data for those 2 days is messed up or not available.
I came here to say the same thing, it's so weird. Was wondering why my impressions tanked so much. Always something going on.
While it's not conclusive, odds are pretty good that this glitch and the introduction of the new app feature with obviously inaccurate data are likely related.
Unfortunately, even if it is simply a display issue that eventually gets corrected with the data being restored, these types of problems continue to erode trust in eBay as sellers grow weary of constantly wondering if things they experience are glitches or intentional but unannounced tests or changes to the site - like in 2023 when eBay ran an unannounced test which removed most promoted listings ad spots from item pages, tanking impressions for a 10 day period when the test was active.

Or the many other examples sellers have shared over the years of how the math on Promoted and Organic impressions and views doesn't always add up.
