Bradford Shellhammer Bounces From Rent The Runway, Joins 1stDibs As Chief Marketing & Product Officer
Bradford Shellhammer has bounced from Rent The Runway after less than a year to join 1stDibs as Chief Marketing and Product Officer, according to a company press release:
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--1stDibs, Inc. (NASDAQ: DIBS), a leading marketplace for extraordinary design, has announced the appointment of Bradford Shellhammer as the brand’s Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Product Officer. Shellhammer joins from Rent the Runway and will start next month.
Guided by his deep experience in home and luxury collectibles, Shellhammer will lead the 1stDibs Product, Marketing and Customer Support functions.
In addition to shaping and executing marketing strategies, driving customer engagement and growth and building brand awareness, he will oversee product development efforts and the user experience, ensuring 1stDibs is building an exceptional experience to connect those seeking beautiful design with highly coveted sellers and makers.
Shellhammer exited Etsy-owned musical instrument marketplace Reverb last year after mass layoffs, but before Etsy announced they were selling Reverb, and joined Rent The Runway as Chief Product Officer in October 2024.

All seemed well at Rent The Runway with Shellhammer offering positive and supportive words on LinkedIn just one month ago after reporting quarterly results.
But a ~7% year over year revenue decline sent Rent The Runway's stock into a slide after this report and the company clearly still faces many challenges in the near future.
Did Shellhammer simply decide to jump another sinking ship like he did with Reverb before?
Prior to Reverb, he spent ~6 years leading Buyer Experience at eBay as well.

Ironically, eBay's current VP of Seller Experience, Xiaodi Zhang, previously occupied the role of Chief Product Officer at 1stDibs that Shellhammer is now taking on.
