Poshmark Strikes USPS Contract Deal, Will Switch Shipments To Ground Advantage For Lower Rates
UPDATE 9-10-25
Poshmark has posted additional information about the new shipping policy and addressed the problems some sellers have reported in trying to order the free USPS Ground Advantage supplies.
Recently we announced that Poshmark shipping would decrease from $8.27 to $6.49. We’ve heard your feedback and want to follow up with more information to help prepare you for the upcoming transition.
Important dates to know:
- Starting September 12th: USPS may refuse Ground Advantage shipments with Priority Mail packaging at the Post Office counter or return it to sender.
- Starting October 12th: USPS will charge a $5 fee for using Priority Mail packaging. This fee will be deducted from your redeemable balance.
We want to reassure you that:
- USPS is stocked with Ground Advantage packaging.
- We are actively working with USPS to improve the phone experience after reports of long wait times and confusion.

Poshmark is making big changes to their shipping offering hoping lower rates will outweigh slower service with switch from Priority Mail to Ground Advantage in new contract deal with USPS that goes into effect September 12th.
In an announcement posted in the Poshmark blog today the company said they are making the change in reaction to soon to come industry-wide rate increases on Priority Mail shipping, saying they have worked with USPS to negotiate a new, lower shipping rate agreement by switching to exclusively using Ground Advantage instead.
For the first time in over a decade, we’re lowering the cost of shipping! Starting September 12, Posh Post drops from $8.27 to just $6.49—our lowest rate since 2017...
...What’s staying the same
You’ll still get all the perks of Posh Post, our exclusive shipping system:
- Flat-rate shipping on every order—no guessing, no hidden fees
- One label for anything up to 5 pounds
- The ability to use your own packaging
- Prepaid label and QR code options
What’s changing
Orders will ship via USPS Ground Advantage, with delivery in 2 to 5 business days. This means that starting September 12, USPS Priority Mail packaging can no longer be used to ship Poshmark orders. If used for orders sold after October 12, a $5 USPS fee will apply.
If you already use your own packaging, there’s nothing you need to change. If you’ve been using Priority Mail materials, simply switch to any standard box or mailer.
To make this transition easier, Poshmark sellers will have exclusive access to free USPS Ground Advantage boxes.
The fact that Poshmark says sellers will have exclusive access to free USPS Ground Advantage packaging is very interesting - there have been rumors that such packaging would be made available to most postal customers since USPS launched Ground Advantage service in 2023 but there has been no official confirmation from the Post Office about when/if that might happen.
Poshmark says sellers will have to provide their closet names when calling USPS to order these supplies to prove they qualify to receive them for free.
How can I get free Ground Advantage shipping supplies?
Poshmark has partnered with USPS to provide complimentary Ground Advantage shipping supplies exclusively for Poshmark sellers. Packaging options include a variety of polymailers, padded mailers, and boxes.
To order your packaging supplies, please call 800-610-8734. Please note that you will need to provide your closet name to USPS to confirm you are a Poshmark seller.
For leftover Priority Mail packaging, sellers can return full Priority Mail packs of 10 or 25 directly to their local Post office or use them for future non-Poshmark Priority Mail shipments - but be advised, they should not be used for any non-Priority Shipments or as filler material inside packages as this kind of misuse of postal supplies is strictly prohibited and may be a Federal crime.
Unfortunately, early reports indicate that things are not starting off smoothly with the USPS partnership as sellers on Reddit report they are being hung up on when attempting to call the phone number provided to order the free Ground Advantage Supplies.
I have called three times and have been disconnected. I also signed into to my own USPS account and there are NO options for ground advantage boxes. Oh - and BTW - we have to wait longer for payout now......
Yeah I called and they had no clue what I was talking about
UPDATE: Poshmark has notified sellers they are aware of the issues with trying to order the free Ground Advantage supplies and they are working with USPS to resolve it.

Sellers can still ship the same kinds of items they previously could with Priority Mail and nail polish, perfume, or aerosols are still prohibited with the new Ground Advantage service.
While moving to keep shipping prices down is understandable in the current macro economic environment, doing so at the cost of delivery speed may not sit well with buyers - especially as we head into the Q4 holiday shopping season where Ground Advantage packages may see additional delays during this peak shipping period.
