Poshmark is backtracking on recent removal of Bulk Sharing tool in response to significant seller pushback.

Sellers were outraged with the sudden removal of the Bulk Sharing option early last month, saying it seemed that new leadership was focusing more on sales and less on Poshmark's founding community ethos.

Poshmark sellers thrown into turmoil with sudden removal of Bulk Sharing as new leadership moves away from company’s founding community ethos.

Now it appears Poshmark has caved under the pressure, announcing on Instagram that Bulk Sharing will be returning to the app on December 15th.

Bulk Sharing is coming back.

We’ve heard your feedback, and Bulk Sharing will return to the app on December 15th.

Many of you shared how valuable it is for keeping your closets organized, so we’re bringing it back to ensure you have the tools that work best for you.

We appreciate your continued feedback and support as we evolve the Poshmark experience together.

Unfortunately, that decision may not be enough to quell seller concerns as many questions still remain about whether or not sharing can still provide positive benefits after other recent changes to feed visibility and discovery on the platform.

Poshmark Shakes Up For You Feed Visibility & Discovery With Focus On Trust Factors & On Time Shipping
Poshmark is rolling out a new For You Feed to all buyers, shaking up visibility & discovery with a focus on building trust in the marketplace.

As part of those changes in October, Poshmark said that sharing and following will continue to be an important part of the user experience on the platform, but in different ways than before:

  • Sharing counts as activity and refreshes your listings in the Just Shared sort in Search.
  • Sharing others’ listings is still a way to support the community, but it no longer impacts listing visibility in the Feed.
  • Following helps you stay connected with the community, but it doesn’t impact how shoppers discover your listings.

Several sellers on Reddit were skeptical that having Bulk Sharing capability back will provide any significant benefit if those discovery and visibility changes aren't also being rolled back.

This sounds like they are still saying that bulk sharing no longer is important for sales though. They’re like, “fine have it if you use it to organize your closets

I’m very grateful for it coming back but we need the old feed system as well for it to really be beneficial.

Like u said it feels like they still don’t consider it as vital as it used to be.

It also shows they are totally paying attention to our complaints, so odd that they won’t budge on all the other issues we bring to their attention.

Edit - We never said it will do anything or that we’re undoing our recent changes, we’re just saying we heard you so we’ll give you a button to push back so you stop contacting us about it

Gaslighters is what they are

The move could also potentially be related to last month's mass deletion meltdown, where many sellers had listings deleted and received account warnings and suspensions ostensibly due to issues with third party apps that enable automated sharing and/or cross-listing to other platforms.

Poshmark Sellers Panic As Listings Are Mass Deleted In Error Causing Account Suspensions
Poshmark sellers panic as listings are mass deleted in error triggering account suspensions and no one knows where to point the finger.

While the issue was eventually resolved with Poshmark restoring impacted listings, sellers were never provided a fully transparent post-mortem detailing what actually caused the issue and whether it was on Poshmark's side or that of third party apps like Sidekick.

Poshmark has already been taking steps to make cross-posting more difficult and/or risky for sellers with the Excessive Listing Removal policy introduced earlier this year and sellers have been raising concerns for months that the company might crack down further on the use of third party tools.

In fact, Poshmark's community guidelines have long forbidden the use of "unauthorized" automation, stating:

While Poshers are welcome to recruit human helpers, we don’t allow Poshers to use unauthorized programs or other forms of automation to participate on Poshmark. This includes, but is not limited to, deleting and reposting content, liking, sharing, following, and unfollowing.

It's entirely possible in the wake of the mass listing deletion fiasco that the platform may begin to enforce that guideline more strictly - and if so, re-enabling the official bulk sharing tool may be one way to try to take a bit of the sting out of any future crackdown on third party apps being used for that purpose.
