Etsy Brings Back Old Test Displaying Prices With Shipping Included

Etsy appears to be bringing back an old test, showing some items with a single shipping-inclusive price in search and shop pages.

Reports across the Etsy forums and social media indicate the pricing test is mostly showing up for UK buyers and may vary depending on browser or app settings, but the result is essentially the same - a higher price displayed in search with the actual item price plus shipping breakdown on the item page.

Just spotted this update. I sell vintage - so I liked being transparent about the cost of postage for the wide variety of shapes, weights, sizes of items I sell.

I'm not sure what to think about the update. I think I'm glad it still allows me to be transparent with my pricing but now I'm wondering if I should jump onto offering free shipping and changing the price of my items.

Some in the Etsy community forum said they are only seeing it in shop pages while others said they also see it in search.

I'm seeing the combined price in search (logged in with UK delivery address).

• Then in the listing it says £21.50
• then underneath in grey - (£18.00 + £3.50 postage)
• Perhaps it's only for UK buyers (as already suggested).

The top seller concern about this test appears to be from those who offer a single flat rate shipping option regardless of how many items the buyer purchases since by displaying the price for one with shipping included, buyers may believe they'll end up paying shipping for each individual item ordered.

And others called out this isn't the first time Etsy has tried this test, harkening back to 2017 when it was abandoned after significant user pushback.

I'm 100% positive that Etsy did this insane test many years ago (maybe at least 6 years or longer. ETA: It was almost 9 years ago, time flies). I absolutely know Etsy did this before.

I remember seeing the "total" prices on items and it was a huge uproar then and the test didn't last long.

ETA: I guess Etsy figured no one would remember this test from 9 years ago so Etsy decided to try it again.

I do NOT want to see the item and shipping cost on search pages. I want to see just the item price.

With shipping included in the item costs, you don't know how much the item is and how much shipping is until you look at the listing.
