eBay UK Simple Delivery Will Soon Support Heavier Items With Addition Of DHL
eBay sellers in the UK who have been forced into using Simple Delivery managed shipping will soon have a new option for heavier items with the addition of DHL to the list of supported shipping carriers.
The update was posted as part of a monthly series from GM Eve Williams in the UK community forum which gives little detail but says the changes will be live "in the coming weeks."
This month’s updates: Get paid faster, send heavier parcels and register your interest for eBay Live
DHL will soon be available with Simple Delivery
We’re working on making it easier for you to send your heavier items, with DHL being added as a new courier option in the coming weeks. This means you’ll soon be able to send parcels weighing up to 30kg (with dimensions up to 120cm x 80cm x 80cm) and still benefit from all the convenience and protections that come with Simple Delivery.
DHL will automatically be selected as the courier for eligible orders. What’s even better, collection happens straight from your doorstep, so you can send large items without making an extra trip.
This new option is enabled by DHL ecommerce's recent merger with Evri earlier this year.

Simple Delivery was originally supposed to become mandatory for all private sales of eligible items back in April but after experiencing significant pushback, problems with the Post Office and other delays it was put on a slow rollout which has finally come to an end with eBay saying all eligible private seller listings will be transitioned over on August 6th.
The announcement also reminded users that they have made changes to the Buyer Protection Fee to help make lower priced items more attractive to buyers and that private sellers who meet certain criteria will now have their funds released within 24 hours of the buyer's payment rather than having to wait until after delivery.

And eBay continues to pretend like they just launched Live selling in the UK in March 2025 when it's really been up and running since April 2024, using this month's post by Williams to encourage sellers to express their interest and join the waiting list for access to livestream selling.
Welcome to eBay Live, the new way to sell
eBay Live continues its momentum, with the platform providing a new way for business sellers to showcase their inventory and connect with buyers in real-time.
eBay Live lets you host live events directly from your phone or desktop, giving shoppers a closer look at your listings and a chance to engage with you in real-time. It’s a great way to build your brand, grow your community and create more momentum around your sales.
It’s already gaining popularity across Collectables and Fashion, with sellers reaching up to 15,000 viewers and getting new followers with every event. There’s more to come, with the Refurbished category being added later this year.
If you’re a business seller and looking for new ways to bring your selling to life, now’s the time to get involved. Register your interest and be part of eBay Live’s exciting future.
Based on the questions on the registration form, it's clear that just like in the US, eBay UK is very specifically looking for sellers only in certain categories who already have an established social presence with livestream selling experience on other platforms - so Live is still a long way from being a tool that is available to most sellers on the site.
