eBay Launches Regulatory Portal With Legal & Compliance Guides For Sellers
eBay has launched a new resource for sellers, providing legal and regulatory guides to help navigate compliance responsibilities.
Easily discover laws that may impact your business
It can be challenging to keep track of the laws and regulations that may apply to you when selling on eBay, especially since they come from various authorities. To save you time and support your success on eBay, we’ve launched a new regulatory guide. It’s designed to be your go-to resource for laws and regulations at ebay.com/regulatory.
This guide provides:
- A central location for key regulatory information
- A discovery tool to help you easily identify relevant laws and regulations
- Direct links to guidance on how to comply
VP Global Regulatory, Trust & Monetization Andrea Stairs, who has recently been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, announced the new program in a video on the company's YouTube channel.
Hi, I'm Andrea Stairs, the COO and VP of Global Regulatory at eBay.
Over the course of my 19 year eBay career, I've had the privilege of connecting with incredible business sellers from all over the world. Sellers just like you. The sellers I meet are driven and dedicated to building thriving businesses on eBay but they're also challenged by the wide range of complex regulations they need to comply with, particularly when they're trading to other countries.
This regulatory burden on sellers is only increasing. Every year, dozens of new rules are implemented across eBay's major markets. My regulatory team and I are dedicated to supporting you, our sellers, and helping you understand what you need to do to comply with regulations.
To help you navigate the regulatory environment, we've created this knowledge guide. This guide serves as a starting point for you to identify and understand some of the regulations that may impact your business. It's also a central resource meant for easy self-service to provide you with relevant information about regulations that could apply to you, as well as our understanding of what you need to do to be compliant.
In creating this guide, our intention is that you'll be able to save time dealing with regulations and spend more time on growing your business. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this guide, or if you want to share anything you like, please provide your feedback by using the survey link below. Your insights are incredibly valuable and help eBay make improvements that benefit all customers.
Let's work together to make your global selling journey a successful one.
Here's how it works:
When sellers navigate to the new Regulatory portal page, they can select whether they are using a personal/private or business account, the country where they are located and the country where they are shipping and eBay will populate a list of results for regulatory, legal and compliance issue that may impact them based on those inputs.
If you click on one of the results, it will take you to the relevant help or policy page about that subject.

On its face, that may not seem like anything really new or special, but it could potentially just be a first step in larger plans to help sellers with compliance and regulatory issues.
For example, eBay recently announced they are offering sellers in Germany free legal consultations, advice, and support as part of their existing Shop subscriptions - and more services around legal compliance could be on the way under eBay's recent monetization-focused internal reorganization.

As Andrea said, eBay wants to hear feedback about these compliance resources and is asking sellers to fill out a survey about the new tool:
