UPDATE 9-12-25

While eBay has still provided no answers or details about the fate of the eBay Advertising blog, an eagle-eyed seller says they are starting to see what appears to be eBay Ads blog posts being ported over, rebranded as "Advertising Insights" and displayed within the Advertising dashboard in Seller Hub.

These posts, which were once hosted on the eBay Advertising Blog domain at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/blog/, are now being served under the main eBay.com domain with a new section for ads/blog.

For example: https://www.ebay.com/ads/blog/2025-marketing-trends-calendar-overview

That post was previously on the dedicated advertising site at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/2024/12/18/2025-marketing-trends-calendar/

Unfortunately it does not appear that there is a main hub yet where you can see a chronological list of posts - ebay.com/ads/blog just leads a blank page that says Blog and has a search bar.

If you use that search bar, it will bring up results but again since there is no way to sort by most recent and nothing on either the search page or the new "blog" pages showing dates, it's much more difficult to try to keep track of the most up to date and currently accurate information or to tell when changes or updates are announced.

Also, they have not done 301 redirects for individual pages - for example the old link for that 2025 Marketing Calendar posts redirects to the generic Seller Center page https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/growth/ebay-advertising rather than to the specific new URL that contains the same content/replaces the previous page.

That means any bookmarks of the previous links are now broken and will no longer lead a user to that same content, even if it has already been replicated on a new URL.

Hopefully this is still a "work in progress" because if this is the final result, it will be clear the goal was to make access to this content more difficult and cumbersome while obfuscating important announcements about updates and changes.

North American eBay sellers have been anxiously waiting for the next Promoted Listings advertising shoe to drop after massive money grab attribution updates hit UK, EU and Australia earlier this year, searching for stealth clues hinting at when the new policy might hit them too.

The new model, rolled out in Germany in February and UK, Australia, France, Italy and Spain in June, significantly changes the way eBay charges General cost per sale ad fees, attributing any sale where any buyer clicked on the promoted version of an item - even if that isn't the buyer who ultimately ends up making the purchase!

Since those updates went into effect, sellers in the UK, EU, and Australia have reported raising costs with disappointing returns, showing there is no increased Return on Investment or value added for sellers - only a significant cash grab for eBay.

The company has been tight-lipped about possible expansion to the US and Canada, but some eagle-eyed sellers spotted stealth changes to Promoted Listings Ad policy pages in June, wondering if they might be foreshadowing more changes to come.

Does Stealth Change To eBay Promoted Listings General Ads Foreshadow Attribution Updates For US?
As eBay sellers overseas brace for impact of Promoted Listings ad attribution updates, does change to campaign setup page foreshadow US update coming soon?

Since then, many sellers have resigned themselves to the reality it's likely a matter of "when" not "if" the new attribution model will apply across all eBay sites, with many suspecting eBay will likely want to have it in place for the peak Q4 holiday shopping season.

And now we may have another clue that changes are on the way as eBay appears to have removed their dedicated website and blog for Promoted Listings Advertising, redirecting those pages to the eBay Advertising page in Seller Center instead.

The former site that contained dedicated content about eBay Promoted Listings Ads at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/ and the eBay Advertising blog at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/blog/ are both currently redirecting to https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/growth/ebay-advertising

Blog

Importantly, the Advertising blog is where eBay often first posts important announcements and updates - like when they launched the new attribution model in the UK and EU.

In addition to the US Advertising site, all of the individual links for various blog posts across all the localized pages for UK, EU and Australia also now redirect to Seller Center, but it's not clear whether the redirects are permanent or temporary.

When eBay has made major changes to ad policies in the past, like ending Promoted Listings Express and folding auctions into Promoted Listings General or changing the names of the cost per sale and cost per sale advertising products, they've done a mass edit of the applicable advertising pages and blog posts to delete outdated information and replace it with current policies and terminology.

If/when the new attribution model expands to the US and Canada that will complete the transition for all of eBay's major markets where ads are available, so it's possible they may be temporarily redirecting the whole eBay Advertising site to allow changes to be made to update the applicable pages across all markets, with the intent to put it back live once changes are completed.

eBay has also recently consolidated teams for Ads, Stores, Shipping, Payments and Business Seller Growth under one broader Services umbrella in internal reorganization aimed at monetization of the platform.

Given that internal consolidation, it's also possible that eBay may have decided to consolidate the standalone Advertising website into Seller Center - but if that is the case, hopefully they'll eventually re-incorporate the content from the blog as it would be a shame to lose that resource completely.

eBay has not responded to request for comment about the redirected Advertising site as of time of publishing and so far nothing else has changed in the eBay Marketing Program Terms and Attribution policy pages for the US or Canada.

Stay tuned for updates and let us know in the comments below if you've seen any other stealth changes related to Promoted Listings ads!
