eBay Launches Promoted Listings Priority CPC Video Ads Beta Test
eBay is beta testing a new variation on Promoted Listings Priority cost per click ads, allowing sellers to feature videos of their items in select ad placements across the site.
The new feature will be offered to select sellers as eBay looks to gain feedback. It's not clear what the criteria may be to be included in the initial test cohort, but the fact that the initial announcement was posted in the eBay Australia community forum likely indicates it may not be available in the US just yet.
Bring your Promoted Listings to life with video
Online shopping is more visual than ever, and video has become one of the most powerful ways to help buyers understand what you’re selling, build confidence, and drive sales.
That’s why we’re introducing video as a new way to showcase your items in Promoted Listings with a priority strategy. Currently in beta, this marks the first step in our journey to enhance advertising on eBay with more dynamic, engaging ad formats.
As we gather seller feedback and performance insights, we’ll continue refining and evolving the experience over time.
Why video matters for you
With video, buyers can see your item in action, understand key features quickly, and feel confident purchasing. You can use video to:
- Stand out in search results and top placements across eBay
- Show how an item looks, fits, or works in real life
- Highlight details that photos alone can’t show
- Build trust so buyers can decide with confidence
How It Works
Sellers in the beta test can use short videos in Promoted Listings with a priority strategy. The videos will auto-play in "eligible placements" across the site and if a particular location doesn’t support video, the ad will show the listing image instead.
eBay did not specify where "eligible placements" may be, but listings with videos have shown auto-playing thumbnails in search and on view item pages since 2024 so it's a good bet at least those placements will support this new feature.

If your listing already has a video, you can use it in your ad with no extra work needed.
If not, you can add one video per listing, between 5-60 seconds long, when creating or editing your Priority ad campaign.
There’s no change to how you’re charged. Promoted Listings Priority with video will continue to use cost per click pricing on monthly budget pacing, the same as regular Priority ads without video currently do.

eBay offered the following tips for creating the best videos possible for your items:
- Show your item within the first few seconds
- Keep it concise — aim for 15 seconds
- Focus on one key benefit or feature
- Design for sound-off viewing
Analytics
If you choose to use Promoted Listings Priority Video Ads, eBay says you'll be able to compare performance using new video-specific metrics like view rates and video completion rate alongside your existing campaign results.
This update will likely come as no surprise to Value Added Resource readers, as last month's eBay Marketing Terms update hinted at the possibility of video ads coming soon.

Meanwhile, sellers are still waiting for more information about Custom Promoted Stores ads, originally included in an accidental early release of the January seller update and then removed from the US version while being left in the update for Australia - which could indicate it is also in beta testing in a smaller market before being released sitewide.
