Value Added Resource Week In Review 8-17-25
Welcome to the Value Added Resource ecommerce news week in review!
eBay News
eBay was in the news this week as US District Court Judge Patti Saris has cleared the way for cyberstalking scandal lawsuit with potential nine figure payout to head to trial after paring back some claims and defendants in summary judgment while allowing others to move forward.

The other headline grabbing event this week was the eBay Open 2025 live seller conference in Las Vegas.
Day 1 kicked off with a keynote presentation from CEO Jamie Iannone and other execs with announcements about new features including AI and offers in messaging, tracking your earnings with Cost of Goods Sold support, new protections from Item Not Received claims for sellers who use eBay labels, Automated Feedback and more.

For a deeper dive, check out full coverage of Day 2 and Day 3 of eBay Open 2025 virtual sessions from Value Added Resource, but here are a few highlights:
eBay is expanding AI powered responses for messaging, promising to streamline seller answers to shipping and item detail questions.

Promoted Listings General ads can now be managed in the eBay app with a new Promoted On The Go experience - but users say the data doesn't match what they see on desktop, raising questions about which source to trust for the truth.

eBay Live was front and center at eBay Open 2025 with celebrity guests & panels, but with livestream selling access still very limited, who's the hype really for?

Automatic Positive Feedback is rolling out to all US sellers in September, presumably using the same guidelines they already have in place for Automatic Feedback for those with less than 10 feedback.

Myth busted? eBay Open 2025 presentation says "end & relist" isn’t the only path to visibility & may actually cause more harm than good.

I saw a lot of sellers this week asking where they can find the "Magical Listing" tool that was mentioned in so many sessions - for those who still don't have access to it but are curious about how it works, here's my full breakdown and test of the feature from April:

Outside of Open, Canadian sellers noticed an update to their Payments Terms of Use this week to bring eBay into compliance with the Canadian Retail Payment Activities Act.

And eBay is looking to draw buyer attention away from new and used electronics in favor of eBay Refurbished items with call to action inserted in prominent placement on listing pages.
