eBay UK Invests £3M To Bring OpenAI Tools & Training to Small Business Sellers With AI Activate
eBay UK is launching a new program aimed at helping small businesses harness the power of AI and compete with larger enterprises.
AI Activate is a £3m investment that will provide up to 10,000 small enterprises with fully funded access to OpenAI-powered tools and tailored training to boost productivity and drive growth.
The program, designed specifically for businesses selling on eBay UK gives participating sellers up to 12 months of ChatGPT enterprise access, plus personalized guidance to help them deploy AI to their operations.
AI Activate has been designed using insights from seller research and interviews, which identified the greatest opportunities for AI to make an impact, including:
- Automating administration and finance tasks.
- Generating promotional content and campaigns in minutes.
- Analysing sales and category data to support better planning and innovation.
- Improving product listings to save time and enhance accuracy.
A dedicated eBay team will work with sellers to develop custom GPTs, designed to tackle the most time-consuming and repetitive tasks, from managing inventory to crafting promotional campaigns.
Eve Williams, eBay UK General Manager, said: “The issue is no longer whether businesses should adopt AI. It is how quickly they can start before their competitors do. That’s why eBay is investing to put world-class AI in the hands of small businesses and entrepreneurs, with no charge to them”.
Initial onboarding is available for sellers who attend eBay UK OPEN25 today with access rolling out to more sellers by the end of the year.

This new program is just the latest in AI reskilling opportunities eBay has offered to UK business sellers - earlier this year they also announced a partnership with Multiverse to offer professional apprenticeships.
