We’re currently rolling out a new listing flow in the eBay App, specifically for sports trading cards listed in the Trading Cards Singles category. Select sellers will be automatically opted-in to the new listing flow.

We welcome your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve the listing experience. You can leave feedback in a comment below or via our survey during the listing process. We’ll update you as we expand eligibility and participation in the new listing flow.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

Sellers were a bit perplexed by the lack of information, with some saying whatever this new listing experience ends up being, they just hope it does not interfere with their existing workflow.

While I list trading cards under another ID, I do not and do not expect to ever use the app and a mobile device to list, ship, or well anything. As long as it doesn't mess with the traditional flow that is fine. Each of my mobile devices is signed into the app with a different account, just for sale alerts, other than that, I dislike them a lot.

eBay has been promising sellers (and investors) that magical AI and image recognition powered listing capabilities are "coming soon", but has struggled with execution, especially in the sports trading card categories.

eBay built a "scan to list" tool in 2021 for collectible trading card games like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic The Gathering but for some reason they've been unable to expand the tool to include sports trading cards or other collectible card games in the 2.5 years since the initial roll out.

eBay Scan To List - Magic The Gathering Cards
eBay officially announces support for Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards as well as Magic the Gathering with the Scan To List tool.

Given the current state of eBay's image recognition technology, it would appear they may have run into some technical roadblocks preventing expansion of this feature.

The Collection & Price Guide features for trading cards introduced in 2021 have stalled out as well, with very little improvement over the last 2 years.

eBay recently announced a strategic partnership and investment in collectible trading card marketplace COMC to "accelerate the growth of the trading card hobby."

eBay Partners With COMC To Improve Trading Card Listing Experience
eBay investments in collectible trading card marketplace COMC to “accelerate the growth of the trading card hobby.”

eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY), a global commerce leader that connects millions of sellers and buyers around the world, and COMC, an innovator in the sports trading cards space, today announced that the companies have entered a commercial agreement to accelerate the growth of the trading card hobby.

The deal also includes an eBay investment in COMC. This partnership reinforces eBay’s deep commitment to supporting sellers and collectors across The Hobby, delivering innovative experiences to help them thrive and fuel their passions.

With nearly 300 employees and 200,000 square feet of distribution space, COMC’s unique model offers buyers and sellers an expert partner with a deep catalog and sophisticated fulfillment capabilities. COMC has a demonstrated ability to effectively manage a high volume of trading cards at multiple price points.

eBay’s investment will help unlock access to new services for eBay customers, including making listing easier and more efficient.

That statement sparked speculation that eBay may be hoping to leverage COMC's tech to accomplish what eBay so far has been unable to figure out in-house - making single sports trading card listing easier and more efficient.

Stay tuned for updates as this new listing experience rolls out and if you're one of the first to gain access, we'd love to hear what you think in the comments below!
